When choosing a suit, the difference is not merely one of price or timeline — it is one of philosophy.

At Laxmi Tailors, we offer both our Classic Line and Bespoke tailoring, each created with intention. Understanding the distinction allows you to choose not just a garment, but the experience — and the relationship — that best suits your needs.

1. The Pattern

A Classic Line suit begins with a pre-existing pattern, developed to fit an average body type. With thoughtful alterations, it delivers a clean, dependable fit for immediate wear.

A bespoke suit, however, begins with nothing at all. Its pattern is hand-drawn from scratch — a blank canvas shaped entirely around one individual. Posture, balance, shoulder slope, and proportion are considered from the outset, resulting in a garment that feels instinctively right rather than adjusted to fit.

2. Measurement & Body Analysis

Ready-to-wear garments are built around standard sizing conventions.

Bespoke tailoring goes further. It involves a detailed study of the body — its nuances, asymmetries, and movement. The goal is not correction, but harmony: a suit that works with the wearer, not against them.

3. Construction

Classic Line suits typically use fused or half-canvas construction, prioritising efficiency, accessibility, and consistency.

Bespoke suits are built using full-canvas construction, entirely hand-stitched. This allows the jacket to mould naturally over time, creating a softer drape, improved breathability, and a structure that improves — rather than degrades — with wear.

4. Personalisation

With the Classic Line, personalisation is guided by the boundaries of the collection — offering carefully curated choices that suit most occasions.

Bespoke tailoring removes those boundaries. Every element is considered: lapel shape, pocket style, lining, button material, stitching details, and silhouette. The result is not simply a suit you like — but one that feels unmistakably yours.

5. Fittings & Adjustments

A Classic Line suit offers immediacy. You try it on, refine the fit, and take it home.

Bespoke tailoring values process. Through multiple fittings — including basted fittings where the suit is adjusted directly on the body — the garment is gradually shaped, refined, and perfected. Each fitting brings the suit closer to its final form, and the wearer closer to a truly personal fit.

6. Time & Craft

A bespoke suit typically takes 4–6 weeks to complete and involves 40,000–60,000 hand stitches across more than 60 hours of craftsmanship.

This time is not indulgence — it is precision. It reflects skills honed over generations, and a commitment to creating something intended to last far beyond a single season.

Choosing What’s Right for You

A Classic Line suit fits you into a style. A Bespoke suit builds a style around you.

Both have their place. But for those who value longevity, refinement, and a garment that evolves alongside them, bespoke becomes less of a choice — and more of a natural progression.
